Sometimes projects are already defined. And sometimes not. There is no problem if not. It is a great way of understanding the project by defining the projects boundaries, its background and what it is supposed to fullfill.

Every project had its very own ideation phase. Ideation can happen with pen on paper, can be through digital sketching or by mocking up physical ideas.

 

A good ideation phase builds onto the strong creative fundament that has been build upfront.

Once we have found a design direction or a design territory we all feel strong about, we start exploring multiple designs and design solutions.

Especially in the beginning, it might help to explore several directions to make sure we end up with the best possible solution and the design we all could not feel stronger about.

Trying out if a design idea might work is the first step to bring your idea to life. 

 

tMocking up a quick prototype can help to visualise the idea but also might help to find possible difficulties early in time. It is also a great tool to communicate an idea. Sometimes a strong idea might not work on paper but comes to life as a prototype.
